Position Summary

Virginia Transformer is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support production operations and continuous improvement initiatives at our Roanoke, VA manufacturing facility
.

This is a hands-on manufacturing floor role responsible for improving manufacturing processes, productivity, quality, workflow, workstation design, and overall operational performance.

The Manufacturing Engineer will partner closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Industrial Engineering, and Design Engineering to standardize M.E./I.E. processes, optimize workstation layouts, streamline manufacturing flow, improve productivity and quality, and support World Class Manufacturing priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Support daily manufacturing operations and troubleshoot production-related issues.
  • Develop, standardize, and improve Manufacturing Engineering and Industrial Engineering processes
    .
  • Develop and improve manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, work methods, and workflows.
  • Redesign and optimize workstations and production layouts to improve safety, ergonomics, productivity, quality, and manufacturing flow.
  • Identify and eliminate production bottlenecks, wasted motion, unnecessary handling, and process inefficiencies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, throughput, delivery, and cost reduction

  • Work directly with production teams to improve productivity and streamline manufacturing flow

  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing and quality issues.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, standard work, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, process standards, and standard work.
  • Analyze production data and manufacturing KPIs to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, capacity analysis, and process observations as needed.
  • Work closely with Design Engineering to improve manufacturability and optimize production processes.
  • Participate in capital equipment, tooling, automation, and facility improvement projects.
  • Support new product introduction and process validation activities.
  • Support and align manufacturing improvements with World Class Manufacturing priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and company standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering
    , or a related engineering discipline.
  • 10-12 years of manufacturing or industrial engineering experience preferred.
  • Recent graduates with strong internships, co-op experience, or hands-on manufacturing exposure will be considered.
