Eaton’s ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer. This role is onsite at our Roanoke, VA facility. Relocation is provided within the United States for this opportunity.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year. Please note the salary information shown is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
This Manufacturing Engineer position will support Assembly Operations. This role is responsible for designing, improving, and sustaining mechanical systems, tools, and processes used in the manufacturing and assembly of high-quality products. You will work cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and production teams to drive product performance, manufacturability, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced industrial environment.
In This Role You Will- Design, develop, and improve mechanical components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes to enhance product performance and manufacturability
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities, including prototype builds, process development, and production readiness
- Evaluate existing products and processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency gains, and quality improvements
- Develop and implement tooling, fixturing, and assembly methods to support safe and efficient production
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues in production and implement robust corrective actions
- Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams to improve yield, reduce scrap, and optimize throughput
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and work instructions
- Support testing and validation of products to ensure compliance with performance and reliability requirements
- Work with suppliers to specify components, resolve technical issues, and improve part quality
- Lead or support continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) initiatives across assembly operations
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and engineering best practices
Basic (Required)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of three (3) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment.

- Experience in high-volume assembly or electromechanical manufacturing
- Knowledge of DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturability/Assembly) principles
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g., Solid Works, Creo, or similar)
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
Experience supporting SMT, automated assembly, or testing systems - Exposure to ERP systems (SAP preferred)
- Project management experience, including leading cross-functional initiatives
