Shelter Guest Services Ministry Team Member

The Shelter Guest Services ministry team is committed to embodying compassion and understanding while helping hurting people in Jesus' name. They serve individuals who seek emergency shelter by providing intentional services related to a safe, secure and comfortable nights rest. These services include chapel services, overnight laundry, the opportunity to take a shower and shelter while sleeping.

Full Time 2:30pm- 11:30pm Full Time 11:00pm - 8:00am Part Time - 7:30a - 4:30p Saturday & Sunday plus 1 weekday evening Schedules may vary depending on assigned shift and days.

Compensation: $19.00/hour (non-exempt/hourly)

Job specific qualifications:
Experience working with individuals living with mental health and substance use disorder; helpful. Desire to minister to and love those who need help and Jesus Christ Patient and compassionate presence Previous experience with conflict resolution techniques, helpful Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Gmail, basic grammar
Career summary (may include other duties as assigned):
Shelter services will supervise emergency shelter guests by enforcing shelter policies, check-in/out process, monitor security protocols and making rounds, room checks and promoting a team environment for guests, volunteers, and team members. Administrative duties to include completion of records/documents, inspections, incident reports, medication distribution, phone calls, supply maintenance. Conflict resolution/deescalating potentially volatile situations and reporting to appropriate persons as needed.
Report needs/concerns to manager. Assist volunteers/interns to include training and assistance. Laundry operations as scheduled Housekeeping duties to ensure infection control processes are in place for health, safety and security measures.
All Rescue Mission of Roanoke team members may be asked to complete other duties as assigned by the leadership/management. Expectation is to complete these assignments as requested. Compensation: $19.00 per hour
Since 1948, the Rescue Mission has continued a tradition of comprehensive care to those in crisis in our community. The homeless, the hungry, the chemically addicted, the impoverished and the hopeless have all found a warm welcome at the Rescue Mission. Men, women and children have found a safe place and compassionate friends in their darkest moments. The Rescue Mission is open 24 hours/day and 365 days/year and provides food, clothing, shelter, an on-site clinic, Recovery Program, case management, and aftercare services.
All people in crisis are served regardless of race, gender, creed, age, or ethnicity.
In addition, the Rescue Mission operates a Donation and Recycling Center, 2nd Helpings – Gallery and Shop, Thrift 460, and has an online store presence. All proceeds from sales benefit the programs of the Rescue Mission.
