Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Whole House Float ICU position requiring proficiency in ICU, PCU, and MS units with ICU experience and EPIC charting skills.
Responsibilities
• Work in a hospital setting, floating between ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg units
• Patient ratios: ICU 2:1, PCU 5:1, Med-Surg 6:1 (may flex up to 7:1)
• 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m., with 3x12s or 4x12s upon request
• Frequent floating required, potentially 2-3 times per shift based on staffing needs
• Weekend requirement is either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
• Holiday coverage required for one holiday per 13-week contract
• Utilizes EPIC EMR, previous EPIC experience required
• Expected to provide advanced nursing care across ICU, PCU, and MS units as clinical needs dictate
• Staffing assignments are reassessed every 4 hours and may require frequent transitions between units
• Must be comfortable managing a wide range of clinical procedures, including non-invasive airway support and sedation drips
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Local candidates will be considered
• Must be able to submit all time-off requests with initial consideration
• Holiday and weekend coverage expectations apply
Requirements
• Active VA or compact RN license required (pending accepted if from a non-compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience in a large Level I or II facility
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC and central line management, arterial line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, vasoactive drip titration, emergency medications, ventilator management, trach management, and chest tube systems
• Ability to float and work proficiently in ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg environments
