Job DutiesMonitors and supervises direct care staff (C.N.A.) in the performance of health‑related duties. Educates and counsels staff as needed and leads staff meetings, providing in‑services. Consults with Nursing Supervisor/Unit Managers on issues and carries out daily rounds of high‑risk residents or those with wounds, performing brief changes per facility policy. Acts as Unit Manager when required and may cover Assisted Living Unit or any Nursing Unit.
Observes and evaluates residents’ physical and emotional status and takes necessary action. Assesses residents for physician and specialist needs, communicates with physicians, receives, records and implements orders, schedules appointments, and conducts rounds with physicians. Maintains unit cleanliness, ensures equipment is stored properly, and completes all required documentation including incident/accident reports, charting, referrals, assessments, admissions, and shift‑change reports. Documents resident behaviors and health changes using electronic records.
Verifies medication accuracy, alerts pharmacy to errors, prepares and administers medications per procedure, and maintains a neat work area. Monitors supplies, reports shortages, keeps medication refrigerators compliant, assists with in‑house activities, informs staff of residents’ activity status, and coordinates safety measures. Ensures residents are clean, well‑groomed, and reports needed repairs. For RN positions, the pay range is $87,214 - $90,633.
- Completed a Practical Nursing program and obtained certification.
- CPR certification required upon hire or willing to obtain.
Applicants must be a citizen or national of the U.S., a Lawful Permanent Resident, or an alien authorized to work. Current DVS employees are excluded; selected candidates must pass a criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screening and two TB skin tests.
