Job Summary
The Registered Nurse Team Lead supports the delivery of high-quality patient care and team performance within the clinical service area. This role combines direct patient care responsibilities with leadership and operational oversight to ensure optimal patient outcomes and a positive work environment.
The RN Team Lead is responsible for promoting clinical excellence, supporting staff development, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while maintaining efficient daily operations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of patient care, ensuring clinical excellence and adherence to departmental standards
- Provide direction, supervision, and delegation of clinical and non-clinical responsibilities to staff
- Foster a positive team culture that promotes accountability, high morale, low turnover, and professional growth
- Recognize staff accomplishments and encourage ongoing development and engagement
- Serve as a communication bridge between staff and management, ensuring two-way feedback and timely issue resolution
- Collaborate with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate and manage care plans
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information
- Attend management meetings, represent the unit, and contribute to organizational initiatives
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, CLIA, OSHA)
- Support fiscal management by maintaining appropriate staffing levels, controlling expenses, and contributing to budget planning
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, including patient satisfaction and performance metrics
- Provide age-appropriate care utilizing knowledge of lifespan development
- Respond to urgent staffing needs as required
- Interpret and apply laws, regulations, and organizational policies appropriately, with awareness of impacts on reimbursement, HR, and clinical pathways
- Graduate of a State Board of Nursing approved program required
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience with demonstrated leadership expertise
- Current Registered Nurse licensure
- De‑escalation training required within four months of hire (for applicable specialties)
- Proficiency with electronic medical record systems
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to complete orientation and competency validation requirements
- Ability to appropriately manage and restrain disruptive or physically violent patients when necessary
