Location: Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRVMC) in Christiansburg, VA. Full time, working nights, 7pm-7am with every other weekend & rotating holidays.

Sign On Bonuses: $25K for Experienced RNs; $15K for New Grad RNs.

As a registered nurse (RN), expect to consistently deliver the best in care and customer service and demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy. RNs assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and individualized care for patients of all ages, using delegation and critical thinking skills for quality service under a collaborative approach.

• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimum outcomes for patients of all ages as appropriate to service area.
• Completes age-specific admission and ongoing assessments, documents, and develops plan of care.
• Collaborates with health care team, patients, families to develop, implement, and evaluate interdisciplinary plan of care; revises plan per changes in patient status.
• Administers and documents treatments and medications accurately using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
• Identifies patient/family educational needs timely, incorporates into plan of care, implements, and documents appropriately.
• Contributes to Carilion Clinic's performance improvement activities.
• Consistently demonstrates role of patient advocate, protector of patient rights, and provider of psychological/social/cultural support.
• Applies knowledge of growth and development to care appropriately for patients served.
• Performs within clinical, leadership, and/or education pathways to support evidence-based, quality patient care service and performance improvement.
• Exhibits clinical expertise in rapidly changing circumstances.
• Plans strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, resource consumption and improve patient outcomes.
• Acts as role model for clinical practice to coworkers, students, and physicians; manages resources, establishes priorities, and modifies environment to meet patient care needs.
• Completes manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frame and according to pre-established guidelines.
• Uses problem-solving methods to facilitate resolution to patient and personnel situations present in the work area.
• Takes active role in the orientation of new employees.
• Provides feedback to staff using appropriate communication and documentation.
• Provides input into practice, environment, and work issues by participating on unit, hospital, and/or system activities facilitating staff participation/input in decision making.
• Assists with providing education activities for unit or department.

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or an approved nursing program eligible to sit for the Virginia RN licensure examination.

Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.

Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required; may be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit.

Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).
