Carilion Travel RN - Part Time (Open)

• Perform varied RN functions across multiple disciplines and facilities, adapting to the type of assignment, facility, and patient population.
• Consistently deliver quality care and customer service while demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy to patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.
• Assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages.
• Plan and implement patient care using assessment, critical thinking, delegation, and collaborative approaches to achieve optimum outcomes.
• Administer treatments and medications accurately, documenting all actions via automated computer systems (e.g., Epic).
• Identify patient/family educational needs, incorporate them into the plan of care, and document accordingly.
• Contribute to Carilion Clinics performance improvement activities and function as a role model and mentor to coworkers, students, and physicians.
• Manage resources, set priorities, and modify the environment to meet patient care needs while complying with confidentiality and safety protocols.
• Assist in the orientation of new employees and provide feedback through effective communication and documentation.
• Travel to other Carilion facilities as required based on vacancy and patient needs.

• Education:
  
  Graduate of a professional nursing school of an accredited college. BSN preferred.
• Experience:
  
  2 years in a related field; 3 years ED experience required for ED assignments.
• Licensure:
  Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
• Specialty Requirements:
  • Psychiatry & Behavioral Health:
    De‑escalation training completed within 1 year of hire and ongoing.
  • Pediatrics:
    Competency in pediatric and PICU care; PALS and PEARS required.
  • Home Health:
    Valid VA Driver’s license and completion of a Criminal Record Check per VA State Law.
  • Life Support: AHA BLS‑HCP required; BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP may be required per unit.

  Proficiency with electronic medical records (EPIC).
• Other:
  Must pass a Criminal Record check per Virginia State Law.
