Ratio: 1:6
Core Responsibilities- Direct Patient Care: ~20 hrs/week
Caring for patients with elective back surgeries, trauma, prostate cancer, gallbladder conditions, cellulitis, and other acute medical-surgical diagnoses. - Assessment & Monitoring: ~5–6 hrs/week
Ongoing patient assessments, monitoring for condition changes, and activating Rapid Response/Code Teams when needed. - Medication & Treatment Administration: ~4–5 hrs/week
Medication administration, oxygen therapy, peripheral IV care, and post-operative care. - Documentation & Care Coordination: ~4–5 hrs/week
EPIC charting, interdisciplinary communication, discharge planning, and patient education. - Leadership & Unit Support: ~2–3 hrs/week
May serve as Charge RN, precept new staff, and assist with unit workflow.
- BLS required
- EPIC experience required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Active VA or Compact RN License (pending accepted per facility guidelines)
- Strong Med-Surg experience preferred
- Comfortable with 1:6 patient ratio
- Adult acute care Med-Surg unit
- Common cases include post-op spine, trauma, oncology, cellulitis, and general surgical patients
- Floating required within skill set
- Charge and preceptor responsibilities may be assigned
- Level I Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital
- Weekend requirement:
Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week block - One holiday required per 13-week contract
Experienced Med-Surg RN who is comfortable managing a 1:6 ratio, caring for diverse post-operative and medical patients, and taking on leadership responsibilities such as charge nurse and precepting when needed.
