Position Overview
Travel Stepdown RN – Fusion Medical Staffing, Roanoke, VA. 26‑week travel assignment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical or general inpatient units.
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect abnormalities and respond appropriately.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, with a focus on cardiac care.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during cardiac‑related procedures and examinations.
- Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients.
- Observe patients, record significant conditions and reactions, and notify supervisors or physicians of cardiac status and responses to interventions.
- Respond to life‑saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies.
- Document nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients.
- Initiate patient education plans focused on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for telemetry patients.
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN.
- Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) certification.
- English language literacy, ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, handle equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
- Must cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure.
- Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as independently without assistance from other personnel.
- Must possess visual acuity and the ability to effectively communicate.
