Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital (CRBH) in Lexington, VA. Evening/Night shift, full time. Covers every other weekend and holiday requirements.
Compensation$30K Sign On Bonus available for experienced RNs, $20K for new grad RNs.
DescriptionAs a registered nurse (RN), you are expected to consistently deliver the best in care and customer service and demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with our patients, their families, visitors, and with each other. As part of the health care team, RNs assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages.
The registered nurse also utilizes delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team‑oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.
- Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care to achieve optimum outcomes for patients of all ages appropriate to the service area.
- Completes age‑specific admission and ongoing assessments, documents them, and uses the data to develop a plan of care.
- Collaborates with the health care team, patients, and families to develop, implement, and evaluate an interdisciplinary plan of care. Revises the plan as patient status changes.
- Accurately administers and documents treatments and medications for patients of all ages using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
- Identifies patient/family educational needs in a timely manner, incorporates them into the plan of care, and implements and documents them appropriately.
- Contributes to Carilion Clinic’s performance improvement activities.
- Consistently demonstrates the role of patient advocate, protector of patient rights, and provider of psychological/social/cultural support.
- Applies knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients served.
- Determines and performs within clinical, leadership, and/or education pathways to support evidence‑based, quality patient care service and performance improvement.
- Exhibits clinical expertise in rapidly changing circumstances.
- Plans strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, resource consumption, and improve patient outcomes.
- Functions as a role model for clinical practice for coworkers, students, and physicians; manages resources, establishes priorities, and modifies the environment to meet patient care needs.
- Completes manager/director predetermined projects within a specified timeframe and according to pre‑established guidelines.
- Uses problem‑solving methods to facilitate resolution of patient and personnel situations that arise in the work area.
- Takes an active role in the orientation of new employees.
- Provides feedback to staff using appropriate communication and documentation.
- Provides input into practice, environment, and work issues by participating on unit, hospital, and/or system activities which facilitate staff participation/input in decision making.
- Assists with providing education activities for the unit/department.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing or an approved nursing program eligible to sit for the Virginia RN licensure examination.
Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
Life Support: AHA BLS‑HCP required; may be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on the specific work unit.
