RN – Medical Progressive Care Unit (Open). 24‑bed telemetry PCU specializing in Hospitalist Medicine patients with renal and various other medical diagnoses. Provides alternate unit care for GI, Pulmonary, and other surgical/procedural patients covered by Hospitalists, with capacity for up to two chronically ventilated patients.

• Consistently provide high‑quality care and customer service, demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness and empathy.
• Assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages.
• Apply delegation and critical thinking skills in a team‑oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum outcomes.
• Complete age‑specific admission and ongoing assessments, documenting and using them to develop care plans.
• Collaborate with the health care team, patients, and families to develop, implement, and evaluate age‑specific interdisciplinary plans of care, revising them as patient status changes.
• Accurately administer and document treatments and medications through automated electronic medical record systems.
• Identify and meet patient/family educational needs, incorporating them into the plan of care.
• Contribute to performance improvement activities and advocate for patient rights and support.
• Apply knowledge of growth and development appropriate to patient populations.
• Engage in clinical, leadership and/or education pathways to support evidence‑based patient care and quality improvement.
• Demonstrate clinical expertise in rapidly changing circumstances and plan strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, and resource consumption.
• Serve as a role model for clinical practice to coworkers, students and physicians.
• Manage resources, set priorities, and modify the environment to meet patient care needs.
• Complete manager‑directed projects within specified time frames and guidelines.
• Use problem‑solving methods to resolve patient and personnel situations.
• Participate in orientation of new employees and provide constructive feedback.
• Contribute to practice, environmental and work issues through unit, hospital, and system activities.
• Assist with education activities for the unit or department.

• Graduate of a school of professional nursing from an accredited college or a program eligible for the VA licensure exam.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
• Valid AHA BLS‑HCP; may be required to obtain or maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific unit needs.
• Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).

Hourly range: $33.52 – $50.28. Compensation is based on qualifications, credentials, education, and prior experience. The range does not include benefits or pension plan.
