Plasma Center Nurse- LPN

Job Description

The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports daily operations at a plasma donation center. Responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, notifying donors of unsuitable test results, and providing medical support under the guidance of the Center Physician and Medical Affairs.

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions in the facility as outlined in the SOPs and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of the Center Physician’s standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when providing unacceptable findings or guidance on medical or technical issues related to donor safety and eligibility.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health or EHS. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
• Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

• High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
• Current licensure or certification in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Completion of the FDA approved training requirements for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $24.32 - $33.44. The estimated hourly wage range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual hourly wage offered may depend on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, or other factors and will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements.
