- Ambulatory Surgery Unit - FLEX (Open).
This role is part of the patient care team in an Ambulatory Surgery Unit. The position involves providing basic nursing and patient care, supporting post-operative care in an ambulatory setting, and performing clerical and technical duties to support patient care, safety, and comfort.
Responsibilities- Provide basic nursing care and activities of daily living support, including measuring vital signs (blood pressure, oxygen levels, temperature) and assisting patients with bathing, meals, toileting, ambulation, and other needs.
- Assist with care of patients on suicide or safety precautions as competencies allow.
- Support post-operative and medical-surgical ambulatory patients; participate in admission, transfer, and discharge processes with the patient experience as a top focus.
- Document and report patient observations to licensed staff; monitor and report changes as required.
- Transports patients, supplies, specimens, equipment, and other items within the facility; assist with room setup and equipment cleaning and stocking.
- Utilize department/unit software and intranet to coordinate patient flow and communicate with the care team; assist with scheduling support, including covering lunch assignments.
- Assist with registration, greet patients and visitors, and act as a welcoming, service-oriented presence on the unit.
- Support environmental safety and cleanliness; conduct safety/environmental rounds and maintain unit readiness for inspections and audits.
- Assist with maintaining regulatory compliance; may participate in sitter process and other competency-based activities (as applicable).
- May perform phlebotomy, nonsterile wound care dressings, saline lock management, or colostomy care (competency dependent).
- Assist with supply management, equipment processing, and basic office equipment operation as needed.
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. - Experience:
None required. - Licensure/Certification:
Certified Nursing Assistant required if working in a critical access facility; other roles require current certification as applicable. - Other minimum qualifications:
Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to complete orientation and competency validation; ability to work in a fast-paced environment with prioritization and time management.
- Compensation Range: $17.39 – $24.35 per hour. Pay based on qualifications, credentials, education, and prior experience. Benefits are not included in the stated range.
