Registered Nurse – Stroke/Neuro PCU (IMC/Stepdown)

Roanoke, VA

Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM); 4x12 available by request | Onsite

• Provide direct patient care on a telemetry PCU specializing in stroke, neurology, and hospitalist medicine patients within a Joint Commission certified primary stroke center
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response interventions
• Administer IV therapy, blood products, and cardiac drips (no titration required); maintain central and peripheral line care
• Manage respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Implement and maintain isolation precautions in telemetry, PCU, IMC, and stepdown settings
• Float within skillset to other units as required by staffing needs

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license (pending license considered only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state)
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system
• Experience in a Neuro PCU, IMC, or stepdown clinical setting
• Competency with phlebotomy, IV therapy, and cardiac drip management
• Ability to work at least one holiday per 13-week contract period; weekend availability required (every other weekend or 6 shifts per 6-week scheduling block)

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Familiarity with remote telemetry monitoring environments and tele-sitting workflows
• Experience managing drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Lidocaine, and Ketamine

• Opportunity to work at a large, Magnet-designated Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital offering advanced specialty care in a dynamic stroke and neuroscience unit
• Supportive staffing model with a target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 and tele-sitting support to enhance patient care coverage
