Description:
The position is for an experienced RN in a Stroke/Neuro PCU. Work will involve the care and management of patients with neurology and stroke-related conditions. Shifts are typically 3x12 with additional shifts available upon request. Weekend shifts may be scheduled every other week or six shifts in a six-week block. All time off requests must be submitted prior to acceptance. The facility allows the cancellation of one shift per two weeks if necessary.
One holiday shift must be worked during the 13-week contract period. First-time travelers are accepted, although prior travel experience is preferred. Local candidates are welcome to apply, but restrictions based on distance may apply. Pending licenses are accepted if candidates possess a single-state license from a non-compact state. Required skills include the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV therapy, and medication administration including cardiac drips.
Candidates will be responsible for monitoring patients, managing IV drips, and providing respiratory support. The unit typically maintains a staff-to-patient ratio of 1:5, with a goal of 1:4. Nursing support includes teamwork with physical therapy, respiratory services, and other interdisciplinary colleagues. Candidates should be prepared to float within their skill set as needed.
