Description:
Position: RN Surgical PCU (Vent Experience Required)
Scheduling Details:
Shift hours are 3x12s, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM. Weekend requirement:
May be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block. Requests for time off must be included. Call-off policy allows one shift to be called off every two weeks. Holiday requirement:
Must work one holiday per 13-week contract. First-time travelers are accepted. Floating may be required within skillset.
Required Clinical
Skills:
Cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation and management. IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care. Ventilator care for chronic tracheostomy patients. Medication administration, including cardiac drips (no titration). Respiratory support: nasal cannula, oxygen administration, CPAP, and BiPAP. Rapid Response and Code team activation. Isolation precautions and telemetry settings across care units.
Unit Details:
Typical staffing ratios are 1:5, staffing goal is 1:4. Functions as a step down from the General Surgical ICU. Provides bariatric specialty and backup to the trauma unit. Two beds for chronic tracheostomy patients are available. Oxygen support includes CPAP and BiPAP. Equipment includes ortho equipment, chest tubes, surgical drains, tracheostomy supplies, endo tools, PICC lines, and IV drips for managing conditions.
Client Highlights: A large acute care facility providing advanced specialty care. Recognized as a Level I Trauma Center and a teaching hospital.
Travel Compliance:
Travelers are required to work at least one holiday per 13-week assignment. Compliance documents are due the Wednesday prior to start. Candidates residing within a specified distance from the facility are considered local. Return travelers must be gone for a minimum period before reapplying.
