- Medical Cardiology PCU.
- Consistently deliver the best in care and customer service and demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter.
- Assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care for patients of all ages.
- Utilize delegation and critical thinking skills to provide quality service through a team oriented, collaborative approach to patient care.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve optimum outcomes.
- Complete age‑specific admission and ongoing assessments, documented and used to develop a plan of care.
- Collaborate with members of the health care team/patient/family to develop, implement, and evaluate an age‑specific interdisciplinary plan of care; revise plan according to changes in patient status.
- Accurately administer and document treatments and medications for patients of all ages using automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
- Identify patient/family educational needs, integrate into plan of care, implement and document appropriately.
- Contribute to performance improvement activities.
- Advocate for patient rights and provide psychological/social/cultural support.
- Apply knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients served.
- Perform within clinical, leadership, and education pathways to support evidence‑based, quality care and performance improvement.
- Plan strategies to reduce length of stay, turnaround time, resource consumption and improve outcomes.
- Act as a role model for clinical practice to coworkers, students, and physicians.
- Manage resources, establish priorities, and modify environment to meet patient care needs.
- Complete manager/director predetermined projects within specified time frame and guidelines.
- Use problem‑solving methods to facilitate resolution to patient and personnel situations.
- Take an active role in the orientation of new employees and provide feedback to staff appropriately.
- Participate in unit, hospital, and system activities to facilitate staff input in decision making.
- Assist in providing education activities for unit/department.
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing of an accredited college or an approved program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam.
- Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure.
- Required life‑support certifications: AHA BLS‑HCP; may be required to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on specific work unit.
- Computer skills required for electronic medical record (EPIC).
