About the UnitThe Enhanced Monitoring Unit is a 27-bed specialty step-down environment focused on gastrointestinal (GI) and pulmonary care. Our patients require comprehensive monitoring and interventions that bridge the gap between intensive care and acute medical-surgical nursing. As a registered nurse, you will consistently deliver the best in care and customer service, demonstrating respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues. You will assume primary accountability for nursing coordination and provision of individualized care across all ages. Your duties include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating patient care, completing age-specific assessments, developing and revising interdisciplinary care plans, accurately administering treatments and medications using electronic medical records, providing timely education to patients and caregivers, contributing to performance improvement activities, advocating for patient rights, and supporting family and cultural needs.
You will apply knowledge of growth and development, perform within clinical and leadership pathways, provide evidence‑based care, manage resources and priorities, facilitate problem-solving, mentor new staff, provide feedback, and participate in unit, hospital, and system activities to support staff input and decision‑making. You will also assist with education activities for the unit and department.
- Education:
Graduate of a professional nursing school from an accredited college or a program eligible to sit for the VA licensure exam. - Licensure/Certification:
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Virginia or eligible to obtain Virginia RN licensure. - Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required; may need to obtain/maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP based on unit requirements.

Proficiency in electronic medical record system (EPIC).
