Description
American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Stroke/Neuro Progressive Care Unit position requiring a VA or Compact RN license and prior Neuro PCU experience.
Details- Work in the Stroke/Neuro PCU (12 West) of a large acute care hospital
- Telemetry PCU specializing in hospitalist medicine, stroke, and neurology patients
- Unit is part of a Joint Commission certified primary stroke center
- Typical patient ratio of 1:5 with a staffing goal of 1:4
- Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45pm-7:15am
- Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
- Floating required within skillset to PCU, IMC, and stepdown units
- Remote telemetry monitoring with tele sitting used to support Patient Care Tech coverage
- EPIC charting experience required
- Active VA or Compact RN license required, unless coming from a single-state non-compact state where a pending license may be accepted
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
- Experience managing cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, and Ketamine (titration not required)
- Skilled in respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
- Experience with isolation precautions and telemetry settings
- Provide direct patient care to stroke, neurology, and hospitalist medicine patients on a telemetry PCU
- Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2-week period
- Must work one holiday during the 13-week contract;
Christmas RTO cannot be approved - All RTO requests must be submitted prior to consideration
- First-time travelers welcome to apply, though travel experience is preferred
- Local candidates accepted
- Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated teaching hospital affiliated with a school of medicine
