DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a CVOR RN with cardiovascular and thoracic scrub experience for a role at a Level II Trauma teaching hospital requiring an active VA or Compact RN license.
Details- CVOR unit within a teaching hospital setting
- Weekend and evening call rotation required with staff
- On-call rotation required with staff
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Uses special equipment including Impella, Sternal Lock, Laser, Da Vinci Robot, Stryker camera system, and Storz camera system
- Active VA State or Compact RN license required (single-state license accepted only if from a non-compact state and pending)
- BLS certification required; CNOR preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Previous charge experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Scrub experience required
- Experience with AAA repair, CABG, Atrial Septal Defect repair, Cardiomyoplasty, femoral cannulation, IABP, MAZE procedure, Mitral Valve replacement, Pericardial Window, and LVAD/RVAD
- Experience with Lobe resection, Mediastinoscopy, Thoracotomy, and VATS
- Patient ratio experience of 1 nurse to a team of 3 patients
- Facility allows one call-off shift per 2-week period
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are not accepted; radius rules apply based on driver's license address
- Inpatient RN exceptions allow travelers living 50-99.9 miles away to be considered for one 13-week assignment with no extension eligibility
- Inpatient RN exceptions allow travelers living less than 50 miles away to be considered for one 13-week assignment at a lower bill rate with no extension eligibility
- Previous employees, per diem or permanent, must be separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers who have worked 365 days on assignment are not eligible to return, regardless of separation period, with exceptions reviewed case-by-case
- Facility is a 703-bed acute care teaching hospital and the region's only Level I Trauma Center for adults and pediatrics
- Magnet-designated for nursing excellence and affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine
