American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cath Lab RN for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital position requiring cardiac catheterization skills and on-call availability.
Requirements
- Active VA or compact RN license (in hand or pending, with emergency authorization available while permanent license processes)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCI RCIS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, 3+ years preferred
- Prior charge nurse experience preferred
- 1:1 patient ratio experience required
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Skilled in cardiac cath lab procedures including LHC, RHC, PCI, PTCA, stent placement, atherectomy, temporary pacer, Impella, IABP, TAVR, Watchman, and Mitraclip
- Scrub experience required
- Proficient in sterile technique, EKG lead placement, dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring, and rapid response protocols
- Experience in diagnostic/interventional cath lab settings using fluoroscopy
- Knowledge of isolation precautions, equipment handling, and supply management
- Skilled in end-tidal CO2 monitoring, ACT monitoring, cardioversion, circulating procedures, and infection prevention
- Experience administering antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and procedural sedation
- Experience starting and maintaining IVs and assisting with central line insertion/management
Responsibilities
- Work in a high-volume Cath Lab with 6 procedure rooms and a daily census of 15-20 adult patients
- Common diagnoses include coronary artery disease, valve disorders, heart failure, and atrial septal defect/patent foramen ovale closures
- Perform advanced procedures such as TAVR, left atrial appendage closures, Cardiomems, thrombectomy, mitral clips, and renal denervation
- Utilize equipment including IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, and IVUS
- Day shift schedule of 4x10 hours, 7:30am-6:00pm
- Epic charting system required
- On-call requirement of 7 on-call shifts and 5 late shifts every 6-week period, including one full weekend (Fri-Sun) and one Saturday for elective cases
- Must be able to return to the hospital within 30 minutes when called for on-call shifts
- Must be available to work or take call for one holiday per 13-week contract
- Support a multidisciplinary cardiac care team within a facility offering adjacent cardiac surgery and hybrid ORs
- Work in a nationally recognized cardiac cath lab with American College of Cardiology accreditation for PCI procedures
- Facility is an acute care teaching hospital with over 700 licensed beds, Level I Trauma Center designation, Magnet recognition, and certified stroke center status
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Local candidates residing within 100 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Previous employees must have a minimum one-year break before returning as a traveler
- All RTO requests must be submitted upfront with the application
