Job TitleRegistered Nurse – Neuro PCU (IMC/Stepdown)

Schedule / Job TypeContract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM | Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block | One holiday required per 13-week contract
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct nursing care to adult patients with neurological conditions, including neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, neuro-specific diagnoses, and medical overflow
- Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and participate in Rapid Response and Code teams
- Administer IV therapy, blood products, and cardiac drips (no titration); manage central and peripheral line care and perform phlebotomy
- Support respiratory needs including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
- Monitor patients in a unit that includes 5 dedicated beds for continuous 24-hour epilepsy monitoring; maintain isolation precautions as required
- Float to other units within clinical skillset as needed; document all care using EPIC
- Active Virginia state RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Proficiency with EPIC charting system required
- Comfort with a 1:4–1:5 patient ratio required
- Must be available to work at least one holiday per 13-week assignment (winter holiday periods may require two holidays)
- Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are generally not accepted; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away may be considered for a single 13-week assignment with no extension eligibility
- Prior experience in a neuro PCU, stepdown, or intermediate care setting
- Familiarity with neurosurgical recovery and stroke management protocols
- Experience with continuous epilepsy monitoring environments
