Part Time Evening Shift Sample Processing Technician

Role Overview

Bio Life Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd., seeks a dedicated Sample Processing Technician to support our donation center operations in Roanoke, VA. The role focuses on preparing plasma units and samples for freezing, testing, and shipment while maintaining strict compliance with regulatory standards and ensuring accurate record‑keeping.

Starting hourly wage: $16.00 (subject to state and local minimum wage requirements). U.S.

• Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers (5%).
• Prepare units for frozen storage.
• Collect and store samples from plasma units for testing.
• Perform routine maintenance on the freezer, including temperature monitoring and ice removal.
• Prepare frozen plasma units and samples for shipping following established protocols.
• Organize plasma boxes/documents for scheduled shipments and assist in loading shipments.
• Manage supplies; assist management with inventory control, break down empty cartons, and support proper disposal.
• Maintain complete and accurate records in accordance with cGMP.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations related to product quality, employee and donor safety.

• Support the center management team to identify operational opportunities for continuous improvement, initiating changes to processes using approved procedures (e.g., 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen).
• Maintain general cleanliness of the work area and assist other work areas as needed.
• Read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and keep accurate records.
• Multi‑task effectively and work collaboratively as part of a team.

Must be able to walk, stand, and frequently lean, bend, stoop, crouch, and reach. Requires lifting up to 26 lbs routinely and 32–50 lbs occasionally. Work may involve temperatures ranging from –20°C to –40°C. Prolonged glove wear is required due to risk level 1 exposure to blood‑borne pathogens. Fine motor coordination, depth perception, and auditory monitoring of equipment are essential.
