Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Occupational Health & Safety
Position Summary
The Field Service Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the safety culture across Virginia Transformer's Field Service organization.
This role partners closely with Field Service Operations, Engineering, Project Management, and customers to ensure all installation, commissioning, maintenance, testing, repair, and emergency response activities are executed safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations, utility requirements, and company standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands‑on safety leader with experience supporting high‑voltage electrical work, transformer services, substations, utilities, and industrial construction environments.
Responsibilities Field Safety Leadership- Lead the safety strategy for all Field Service operations throughout North America.
- Promote a proactive safety culture focused on zero injuries.
- Coach, mentor, and support field employees on safe work practices.
- Conduct field safety observations and audits.
- Develop corrective action plans and ensure timely closure.
- Ensure compliance with:
- OSHA regulations
- NFPA 70E
- IEEE standards
- Utility safety requirements
- Environmental regulations
- Customer‑specific safety requirements
- Maintain EHS documentation and reporting.
- Monitor regulatory changes and implement updates.
- Lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Review project‑specific safety plans.
- Participate in pre‑job planning meetings.
- Evaluate high‑risk activities including:
- Heavy lifting
- High‑voltage testing
- Confined space entry
- Energization
- Investigate safety incidents and near misses.
- Develop corrective and preventive actions.
- Track safety metrics and trends.
- Prepare executive safety reports.
- Develop and deliver Field Service safety training.
- Ensure field personnel maintain required certifications.
- Conduct toolbox talks.
- Lead annual safety refreshers.
- Support contractor safety orientation.
- Oversee spill prevention and response.
- Ensure proper handling of transformer oil and hazardous materials.
- Monitor waste disposal practices.
- Support sustainability initiatives.
- Participate in customer safety meetings.
- Ensure customer safety requirements are satisfied.
- Partner with utilities, EPC contractors, industrial customers, and data center clients.
- Implement best practices across Field Service.
- Standardize safety procedures throughout North America.
Bachelor's degree in:
- Industrial Hygiene
Equivalent experience considered.
Experience- 7–10+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience.
- Experience supporting Field Service or Construction operations.
- Experience with in one or more of the following:
- Power transformers
- Utilities
- High‑voltage electrical systems
- Substations
- Electrical contractors
- EPC firms
- Heavy industrial manufacturing
- Incident Command experience preferred
- Working knowledge of:
- Utility Safety Rules
- Hazardous materials handling
- Incident Investigation
- Willingness to travel 40–60% throughout North America to manufacturing facilities and customer sites.
