Incoming Quality Specialist – Corporate Coordinator
Department: Quality / Manufacturing
Position SummaryThe Incoming Quality Specialist – Corporate Coordinator is responsible for developing, standardizing, and optimizing incoming inspection processes across VTC manufacturing facilities. This role ensures that all raw materials, components, and supplier-provided products meet defined specifications and quality standards before entering production. The position serves as a subject matter expert in metrology, inspection methodologies, and supplier quality, driving consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, standardize, and implement incoming inspection processes across multiple facilities
- Ensure compliance with ASME, ISO, and internal quality standards for dimensional and material inspection
- Define and maintain inspection criteria based on CTQs (Critical to Quality), fit, form, and function requirements
- Perform and oversee dimensional inspections
, attribute/variable inspections, and material verification - Establish processes for identification, segregation, and disposition of non-conforming materials
- Collaborate with supply chain, engineering, and manufacturing teams to resolve supplier quality issues
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions related to incoming quality defects
- Support supplier quality initiatives, including qualification, evaluation, and performance monitoring
- Drive continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, APQP, and FMEA methodologies
- Develop and maintain procedures, inspection plans, and work instructions
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with quality management systems and inspection standards
- Support new product introduction (NPI) by defining incoming inspection requirements and validation plans
- Train and mentor quality inspectors and plant personnel on inspection techniques and standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Quality, Mechanical Engineering
, or related field - Minimum 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality engineering, or process engineering
- Strong knowledge of metrology, GD&T, ASME, ISO standards
, and inspection methodologies - Understanding of fit, form, and function principles and product characteristics
- Experience with dimensional inspection and identification of non-conforming products
- Proven ability to apply root cause analysis tools
- Bilingual:
English (B2/C1) and conversational Spanish - Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Experience with NDT and destructive testing methods (ASTM, ISO standards)
- Knowledge of raw materials, mechanical components, and associated risks
- Familiarity with quality management systems and process auditing
- Experience with metrology systems, calibration, and validation of inspection equipment
- Background in supplier quality, auditing, or development
- Experience in transformer manufacturing or heavy industrial environments
- Leadership: Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
- Strategic Thinking: Understands integration between supplier quality, production, and customer requirements
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical mindset with structured troubleshooting approach
- Communication: Effectively trains and empowers inspection and production personnel
