Faculty Position Cardiovascular Research Patient Research Center

Job Overview

Virginia Tech (VT) seeks to recruit an innovative researcher for a tenured or tenure‑track faculty position at the associate or full professor level in its new Patient Research Center (PRC) at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC (FBRI). The PRC initiative, supported by substantial funding, aims to launch this major new program.

• Lead a strong extramurally funded, leading‑edge research program in cardiovascular science, integrating human patient–based clinical research with basic laboratory investigations.
• Teach and mentor graduate, medical and undergraduate students in research projects.
• Collaborate with neighboring clinical partners at the VTC School of Medicine, Carilion Clinic and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
• Contribute to the dynamic community of scholars at FBRI, fostering interdisciplinary research and securing additional collaborative funding.

• Earned Ph.D. degree and an additional advanced degree (M.D., Pharm.D., or D.V.M.) preferred.
• Active extramurally funded research program that includes a human patient–based clinical component.
• Experience with innovative contemporary approaches to studying human cardiovascular function in health and disease, including clinical research trials.

• Successful candidate will be required to obtain a criminal conviction check.
