Job Description
Virginia Tech (VT) seeks an innovative researcher to join its new Patient Research Center (PRC) at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute (FBRI) on the Health Sciences and Technology Campus in Roanoke, Virginia. The position is a tenure‑track or tenured faculty appointment at the associate or full professor level, with responsibilities that include leading a strong, extramurally funded, leading‑edge research program in cardiovascular science, and providing graduate teaching and mentorship.
Responsibilities- Lead a robust, extramurally funded research program focusing on human cardiovascular function in health and disease, incorporating patient‑based clinical research and basic laboratory components.
- Engage in graduate teaching and mentor research projects of graduate, medical, and undergraduate students.
- Collaborate with clinical partners at the Virginia Tech Health Sciences and Technology campus, the VTC School of Medicine, Carilion Clinic, and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
- Contribute to a dynamic community of scholars at FBRI and support major collaborative program funding.
- Earned Ph.D. degree plus an additional advanced degree (M.D., Pharm.D., or D.V.M.) preferred.
- Active, extramurally funded research program including a human patient‑based clinical research component; a basic laboratory‑based research component is also acceptable.
- Experience with contemporary approaches to study human cardiovascular function in health and disease, including clinical research trials.
- Strong track record of securing extramurally funded grants and conducting cardiovascular science research.
- Overtime status:
Exempt (not eligible for overtime). - Appointment type:
Regular. - Salary:
Commensurate with experience. - Hours per week: 40+.
