Maximize profitability through world class customer service and efficiently processing quality items.
SummaryUnder the direct supervision of the Store Manager or designee is responsible for sorting of apparel and soft line goods into salable or salvage categories. Selection of salable goods must meet quality standards while maintaining quantity of apparel inventory.
Essential Functions- Ensures 100% donor and customer delight and provides world class customer service.
- Sort apparel and soft line goods into salable or salvage categories.
- Provide quality assurance by checking for tears, stains, wet, smelly, soiled, broken zippers, and missing buttons.
- Consistently meet sort count goals of one dandux/hour or process 4/6 duros per 8-hour work-shift.
- Always maintain sorting and processing area in a neat and clean condition.
- Demonstrates the principles of DURT (Donor Urgent Response Team) with every donor interaction and uses the DURT Alert system to ensure all donors receive world class customer service.
- Appropriately identify the value of items.
- Assist with floor rotation of apparel as needed.
- Assist with pricing, tagging, and transporting of apparel occasionally or as needed.
- Stay current with brand names, designer labels, current and vintage styles, and price points for soft line goods.
- Identify potential e-commerce items and set aside for manager approval.
- Preplan for adequate supply of donated goods by notifying manager on duty when merchandise is low.
- Follows safety and security practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Manager on Duty.
- Adheres to all Goodwill personnel policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Management.
- Attends in-service related training as assigned.

- If you have a pile, you have a problem. This applies to backrooms, desks, production areas and warehouses.
- Hard goods should be priority processed.
- Material handling equipment is for moving donations, not for storage or merchandising.
- Don’t fall in love with your donations…rotation is critical to success.
- Donor value and transaction value should increase.
- Profits or ROI should increase.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally.
- Ability to perform basic math skills.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with managers, team members, customers, and donors.
- Ability to work within a team situation.
- Ability to maintain a positive, friendly attitude.
- Ability to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.
