Gift Shop Representative (Full time)

Shift: Day/Evening

Location:

1906 Belleview Ave SE, Roanoke, VA

• Assist with displaying, stocking, and selling merchandise.
• Operate cash register, compute sales, accept payments, and process credit card transactions.
• Maintain daily cash drawer balance and reconcile sales records at shift end.
• Support back‑office duties for the Gift Shop Lead: POS item entry, purchase orders, merchandise receiving, and staging.
• Implement Serve‑U philosophy by providing excellent customer service and upselling products.
• Staff the shop and train new volunteers in sales and customer service skills.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date communication notebook for volunteers and staff.
• Coordinate timely product displays, marketing efforts, and merchandise delivery to the sales floor within 48 hours of receipt.
• Assist in aisle maintenance: check‑in merchandise, sort items, restock shelves, dust, and manage inventory.
• Assist volunteers with shop operations during work hours.
• Perform payroll deduction transactions and ensure accurate record‑keeping.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two (2) years of retail and customer service experience.
• Demonstrated high level of customer service and a positive sales approach.
• Flexibility in work schedule and dependable during seasonal sales periods.
• Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask.
• Creative skills for shop displays and overall shop aesthetics.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, stressful retail environment.
• Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
• Data entry skills and proficiency with point‑of‑sale systems.
