Sales AssociatesServe our thrift stores by assisting customers with their overall shopping experience. Includes providing a clean, safe environment for them to shop; displaying merchandise so it is easy to find; supporting the checkout process and answering customer questions in person/by phone. In-store training will be provided.
Hours of AvailabilityPart-Time with Flexible schedule between 9am – 6:30pm;
Monday – Saturday. Closed on Sundays.
Must be willing to work at either store as scheduled. Thrift 460 2nd Helpings, 3425 Orange Ave, NE, 1502 Williamson Rd, NE, Roanoke, VA 24012.
Compensation$15.00/hour (non-exempt/hourly).
Successful Qualifications- Possess a sincere love of Christ and maintain a Christian walk that is evident of that love.
- Possess a genuine interest in the safety and well-being of our guests and team members.
- Ability to engage with customers, guests, volunteers and team members.
- A basic knowledge of general sales and merchandising processes.
- Willingness to exceed “Mission standard” expectations.
- Basic computer and math skills.
- Strong work ethic & commitment; work as scheduled—include holidays/weekends as assigned.
- Strong listening and communication skills to execute instructions and exhibit professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills to assist with multi-tasking daily assignments and special projects.
- Stock items on the sales floor from the storage room.
- Process donations as needed, steam clothing.
- Checkout processes to include use of cash register, computer, and basic math skills.
- Assist customers throughout the store; answer questions, explain processes.
- Answer phone calls to assist customers; transfer and/or take a message as requested.
- Basic housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- All Rescue Mission of Roanoke team members may be asked to complete other duties as assigned by the leadership/management. Expectation is to complete these assignments as requested.
Prolonged periods of physical activity (80%) sitting and/or standing;
Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling objects up to 30 pounds;
Frequent computer use; computer screen exposure;
Lift up to 50 pounds; not typically repetitive;
Temperatures may vary depending on activity/events; indoor/outdoor exposure;
Noise levels may vary depending on activity/event and/or location;
Consistently—Communicating with others to exchange information; verbally and/or electronically;
Frequent—Moving around to accomplish a task;
Occasional— exposure to cleaning general chemicals.
