Position Summary

The Field Service Business Development Manager is responsible for driving profitable growth across Virginia Transformer's Field Service business. This individual will develop new customer relationships, expand existing accounts, identify aftermarket service opportunities, and partner closely with Field Operations to deliver world-class transformer installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair, testing, and lifecycle services.

This position serves as the commercial leader for the Field Service organization, working closely with utilities, EPC firms, industrial customers, renewable energy developers, data centers, and power generation customers to develop long-term service partnerships.

Responsibilities Business Development
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans to expand Virginia Transformer's Field Service business.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new service opportunities across utilities, industrial facilities, renewable energy, EPC contractors, OEM partners, and hyperscale data centers.
  • Develop long-term customer relationships that generate recurring service revenue.
  • Identify opportunities for long-term maintenance agreements and lifecycle service contracts.
  • Serve as the primary commercial contact for Field Service customers.
  • Manage strategic customer accounts throughout the entire sales cycle.
  • Prepare proposals, quotations, pricing, and commercial agreements.
  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts and opportunity pipelines.
  • Achieve annual bookings and revenue objectives.
Customer Solutions

Develop customer solutions including:

  • Transformer assembly
  • Vacuum oil processing
  • Dry-out services
  • Acceptance testing
  • Diagnostic testing
  • Retrofits & upgrades
  • Emergency field response
  • Spare parts
  • Asset lifecycle management
Cross Functional Leadership
  • Partner with Field Service Operations to ensure successful project execution.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to develop technical solutions.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing regarding schedules and parts availability.
  • Ensure smooth transition from sales through project completion.
Market Development
  • Develop new customer relationships within utilities, EPC firms, industrial manufacturing, renewable energy, and data center markets.
  • Monitor market trends and competitive activity.
  • Identify opportunities for new service offerings.
  • Represent Virginia Transformer at industry conferences and customer meetings.
Education

Bachelor's degree in:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
Experience
  • 5-10+ years of experience selling technical products or services within the electrical power industry.
  • Experience with transformer field services, electrical testing, commissioning, power systems, or industrial services preferred.
  • Proven success developing new business and growing existing customer relationships.
  • Experience selling service contracts or aftermarket services preferred.
Preferred Industry Background

Experience with one or more of the following:

Preferred Technical Knowledge
