Job Description
A technician/engineer is sought to operate and maintain the OPM-MEG system at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute. Responsibilities include system oversight during grant-related data collection, scheduling of study scans, and support for investigators using the technology as a part of the grant aims. The technician/engineer will be responsible for utilizing a shared scheduling system, notifying stakeholders of any maintenance needs, and assisting the study MPIs with data collection and analysis.
This position will provide opportunities to work closely with research teams across disciplines, contributing both technical expertise and organizational coordination.
- Experience in Engineering, Physics, Neuroscience, or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated experience working with complex instrumentation in a research or technical environment.
- Strong organizational skills to manage scheduling and coordination across multiple research groups.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
- Demonstrated ability to interact respectfully and comfortably with individuals from all backgrounds while exercising judgment and high degree of confidentiality.
- Coursework or degree in a relevant field, or combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience operating neuroimaging or biomedical instrumentation, specifically OPM-MEG.
- Experience with MEG data acquisition and analysis.
- Familiarity with core facility management and scheduling systems (e.g., iLab).
- Demonstrated ability to train students or staff on specialized equipment.
- Experience working with infants and children.
