Lawrence Companies is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician Specialist to join our growing maintenance team in Roanoke, VA. We are looking for a highly skilled technician with strong diagnostic abilities, a solid work ethic, and hands‑on experience repairing and maintaining diesel-powered trucks and equipment.

What You’ll Do
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and major component repairs
  • Work on engines, transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulics, HVAC, suspension, steering, brakes, fuel systems, and emissions systems
  • Utilize diagnostic software and scan tools to identify and resolve issues efficiently
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and manufacturer service manuals
  • Complete repairs safely, accurately, and in a timely manner
  • Maintain detailed repair documentation and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
  • Support shop cleanliness, safety standards, and OSHA compliance
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of diesel technician experience preferred
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and diesel equipment
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, ECM diagnostics, hydraulics, and air brake systems
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus
  • Ability to operate diagnostic equipment and service software
  • CDL preferred or ability to obtain one
  • Must provide your own tools
  • Strong work ethic with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to stand, bend, crawl, stoop, climb, and work in varying shop and weather conditions
  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles and equipment
