Master Electrician

The Electrician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining road‑side electronic equipment including signal systems, traffic monitoring devices, sensors, communications/networking equipment, CCTV, Dynamic Message Signs, ruggedized computers, fiber‑optic components, industrial controls, audio and video systems, radio transmitters/receivers, and antennas. Successful performance requires proficiency in all essential duties listed below.

• Adhere to industry‑standard and company safety policies.
• Install power‑supply wiring and conduit such as EMT, O‑CAL, rigid conduit, MC cable, strut, cable trays.
• Troubleshoot electrical components, wiring diagrams, transformers, and circuits.
• Test electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or necessary adjustments and to ensure compliance with codes.
• Utilize computer programs to test, access, and document site information.
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems such as electrical panels, CT cabinets, and power supplies.
• Consult with equipment operators to ascertain problems and causes before breakdown.
• Test faulty equipment to diagnose the cause of malfunction.
• Replace defective components and wiring and adjust mechanical parts.
• Align, adjust, and calibrate equipment according to specifications.
• Analyze and interpret test data.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and all applicable policies and procedures (safety, DOT requirements, etc.).
• Capable and willing to perform work at heights up to 100’ on poles or towers, climbing via ladders or safe climb systems or bucket trucks.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Journeyman Electrician’s license required;
  Master Electrician license preferred.
• Two years of experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school preferred.
• Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
• Computer skills (MS Office Suite, Windows operating systems, and relevant commercial off‑the‑shelf programs).
• Must have and maintain a current valid driver’s license (CDL or higher) and good driving record.
• Experience working with Intelligent Transportation Systems and IMSA Signal Technician training a plus.

• Ability to read, interpret, modify, or create project‑specific documents such as technical, operational, maintenance, and procedure documentation.
• Ability to write technical reports and correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to clients and colleagues.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and commissions.
• Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of variables where limited standardization exists.
• Ability to use computer hardware and programs.
• Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee is regularly required to stand, use hands, talk, and hear; frequently to reach with hands and arms, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. The employee occasionally works at heights up to 60 feet. Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The employee works near traffic, moving mechanical parts, and at times in hazardous or adverse environments. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or chemicals may occur. Noise levels are usually loud. Working six to twelve hours per day is common, and weather, dust, and construction-site hazards are present.
