Position: ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN I

Overview

Electrical Technician 1 to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of intricate commercial building systems. Working under the guidance of senior electricians, you will ensure the safety and functionality of power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in pulling wire, installing conduit, and supporting rough-ins for commercial projects.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and assist in diagnosing or repairing malfunctioning equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to determine the placement of fixtures and outlets.
  • Test and calibrate systems using specialized tools to ensure they meet building codes.
  • Maintain tools and materials and keep the job site clean and organized to ensure safety.
  • Assist in updating daily logs of activities and preparing basic technical reports.
  • Provide instruction, direction, and mentorship to others on the job site, including an assigned helper.
  • Coordinate with the owner to ensure job performance and safety reports, including job close-out and scheduling.
  • Select conduit, wiring, and related materials and equipment such as supports and hangers according to specifications.
  • Inspect worksites for obstructions and to ascertain that work performed will not cause structural damage.
  • Plan to coordinate job site materials, subcontracted work, job schedule, and job close-out documents.
  • Plan installation and repair to avoid obstructions and interference with the activities of other workers.
Essential

Skills & Qualifications
  • Technical Proficiency:
    Basic understanding of electrical theories, circuits, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Tool Usage:
    Familiarity with hand and power tools such as wire strippers, drills, and conduit benders.
  • Math & Analytical

    Skills:

    Basic algebra and geometry required for calculating loads and taking precise measurements.
  • Physical Stamina:
    Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (often up to 50 lbs.), and work in varied environments like construction sites or confined spaces.
  • Software Awareness:
    Basic exposure to AutoCAD or Revit for interpreting design documents.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in electrical work or a related field.
  • Foundational understanding of electrical theory (Ohm’s Law, circuitry) and working familiarity with the NEC.
  • Blueprint Literacy:
    Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams to identify placement for power distribution and lighting.
  • Tool

    Competency:

    Proficiency with industry-specific hand and power tools, including conduit benders, wire strippers and crimpers, and multimeters/voltmeters/ammeters.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate professionally.
Preferred Skills
  • NCCER Electrical Level 1 or 2
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction Safety
  • Ability to perform complex bends with minimal material waste
  • Knowledge of Cat6 cabling, fiber optics, or security/fire alarm
  • Understanding of wiring starters and control circuits
  • Ability to plan work by identifying exact connectors, fasteners, and wire gauges
Compensation

Salary Min: $41,622

Salary Max: $69,395

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Travel is frequently required to and from job site locations. The role exposes workers to various indoor/outdoor climate conditions, fumes, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation, and noise levels that may require hearing protection. Hazards may include electrical shock, burns, and other mechanical risks. The physical demands include standing for long periods, lifting up to 50-75 lbs, and the ability to handle and move objects as part of daily duties.
