Position: Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Technician to maintain and repair essential equipment at their facility in East London . This role is vital for ensuring the operational readiness of the airport, covering a wide range of vehicles and machinery used for aircraft servicing, such as baggage tractors, belt loaders, power units, and de-icing equipment. You will be responsible for preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to keep this critical fleet operational.

The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a proactive approach to maintenance, and a commitment to safety, ensuring that ground operations run smoothly and efficiently without disruption.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, inspections, and servicing on various GSE vehicles and equipment .
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues affecting GSE performance.
  • Operate diagnostic tools and testing equipment to identify and resolve faults.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, repair records, and inventory of spare parts.
  • Ensure all GSE equipment meets safety standards and regulatory compliance for airport operations.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and ensure timely repairs to minimize downtime.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a GSE Technician or similar mechanical/automotive technician role.
  • Proven experience diagnosing and repairing diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals , schematics, and repair guides.
  • Familiarity with airport operations and safety procedures is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Relevant trade certifications or vocational training in mechanical or electrical fields.
