ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Collaborate with community members, service personnel, and regional law enforcement to strengthen or enhance Roanoke City’s Group Violence Intervention Strategy, focusing on identifying individuals at the highest risk of committing or becoming victims of violent acts.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to address local violent crime, aligning efforts with the goals set by the funding provided.
- Serve as a central point of contact for multidisciplinary teams, facilitating communication and collaboration among stakeholders from diverse sectors such as public sector leadership, community organizations, law enforcement, legal professionals, victim advocates, health care providers, and more.
- Monitor and oversee the allocation of funds to ensure effective utilization in line with the project’s objectives.
- Organize and lead regular meetings of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring active participation and providing guidance to inform local planning and implementation.
- Identify, research, and apply for grants to secure additional funding for local violent crime reduction initiatives.
- Monitor the progress and compliance of funded projects, ensuring adherence to grant requirements and objectives.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on grant activities, project outcomes, and financial expenditures for submission to relevant authorities and funding agencies.
- Maintain detailed records of team meetings, project progress, and outcomes. Prepare and submit reports as required.
- Work with existing multidisciplinary teams, collect documentation of formalized partnership agreements such as MOUs, and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders.
- Foster engagement with community residents to ensure their perspectives are considered in the planning and implementation of violent crime reduction initiatives.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field from a four‑year college or university.
- Experience in project coordination, preferably in the field of criminal justice or community development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to organize and facilitate meetings, ensuring productive discussions and outcomes.
- Familiarity with local criminal justice systems and community‑based organizations.
- Respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints orally and in writing.
- Make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to management.
- Negotiate and resolve conflicts.
- Organize, direct and coordinate a complete range of administrative activities to obtain maximum efficiency.
- Manage multiple competing projects.
- Analyze a variety of administrative, operational, fiscal, and social problems and make sound recommendations for solutions.
