Job DescriptionFollowing the National Association of School Psychologists’ (NASP) Best Practice Guidelines for School Psychology Internships, RCPS offers a year‑long, over 1,200‑hour internship opportunity for candidates who are nearing completion of a recognized graduate program in school psychology.
School psychology interns will be offered the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to apply their training and to develop skills related to school psychology service delivery under the supervision of staff school psychologists.
Areas of possible experience through this internship include:
- Participation in multi‑disciplinary school‑based teams
- Consulting with RTI teams and assisting with the development of appropriate intervention strategies and progress monitoring of struggling students
- Administering and interpreting psychological assessments for diagnostic and disability identification purposes
- Providing mental‑health support through individual and group counseling programs
- Providing consultation to parents and school staff
- Supporting students, families, and school staff during crisis situations
- Promoting safe learning environments by participating on Crisis and Treatment Assessment Teams
- Fostering relationships with student‑focused community agencies
- Participating in departmental meetings and projects
- Attending as well as developing and presenting professional development programs
This internship position receives a $25,000 annual salary and does not include any benefits (no medical, dental, vision, retirement, sick or personal days).
