Class A HAZMAT Truck Driver / Equipment Operator
Location: Roanoke, VA
Hourly Range: $25.00 - $28.00
Employer: Hepaco, a Clean Harbors company
Travel / On Call / Emergency Response: Position requires travel and on‑call emergency response on a rotating basis every other week.
Training: All new hires must attend a two‑week training academy; travel expenses are paid by the company and a per diem is provided.
Responsibilities- Operate heavy and light‑duty trucks and equipment, including vacuum trucks, Cuscos, guzzlers, and roll‑offs, at customer sites.
- Drive hazardous‑waste vehicles and perform non‑driving duties during hazardous‑waste clean‑up operations.
- Maintain daily logs, timesheets, and reports.
- Properly placard vehicles to meet company and DOT requirements.
- Observe all local, state (provincial), and federal compliance regulations and rules.
- Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, state, and federal requirements.
- Follow corporate operating guidelines, procedures, and environmental health and safety operating guidelines.
- Assist field laborers in a team environment.
- Load and unload trucks and perform site manual labor to fulfill customer needs.
- Operate manual transmissions when necessary.
- Use various mobile devices for job functions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Submit to background check, drug test, and physical examination.
- Maintain respirator facial‑hair standards per OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard (29
CFR
1910.34).
- Valid Class
A CDL. - Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
- Experience operating manual transmissions.
- Commercial driver experience.
- Previous Hazmat experience.
- Previous manual labor experience.
- Physical ability to perform required job functions.
- Proficiency with mobile devices.
