Position Purpose
Non-CDL Driver at SRS Building Products ensures safe, accurate, and timely delivery of building materials to job sites, focusing on contractors. Supports branch operations, verifies order accuracy, performs vehicle inspections, upholds safety standards, and provides excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure safe & timely delivery of building materials to job sites, adhering to safety protocols and route plans.
- Conduct thorough pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections, documenting maintenance needs.
- Accurately verify & manage inventory, including loading and unloading, preventing damage.
- Utilize forklifts safely for loading/unloading, optimizing workflow.
- Engage professionally with on‑site customers, providing exemplary service.
- Maintain regular communication with managers and team members to resolve logistical challenges.
- Adhere to corporate and regulatory safety standards, promoting a culture of safety.
- Document delivery processes, including photographic evidence, for transparency.
Reports to Assistant Branch Manager or Operations Manager; no direct reports.
Travel RequirementsLocal travel with occasional long‑distance excursions within state boundaries.
Physical Requirements- Physical fitness to load/unload goods; sit for long duration while driving.
- Lift or move materials up to 100 pounds consistently.
- Handle repetitive tasks with building products like shingles.
- Operate vehicles and equipment safely in various weather conditions.
Independent, on‑the‑road work in various weather conditions, variable shifts.
Minimum Qualifications- At least 21 years old (18 minimum). Valid non‑CDL driver’s license with a clean record (no DUIs in 3 years, no suspensions in 5 years, max 2 violations/accidents in 18 months).
- U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S. (E‑Verify required).
- Pass drug test, background check, hold current DOT medical card (for vehicles 10,001 lbs+).
- Delivery driving experience with DOT regulations knowledge.
- Strong understanding of building materials, especially roofing products.
- Forklift operation experience; certification is a plus.
- Skilled in GPS and routing software.
- Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Work independently, manage time in fast‑paced settings.
- Excellent customer service & communication skills.
- Problem‑solving abilities for delivery/logistics issues.
- Committed to safety and company policies.
- Comfortable using mobile devices and company apps.
- Willing to participate in ongoing training and development.
- Familiar with warehouse operations and inventory processes.
- Basic math & English communication.
- Forklift experience with conveyor, knuckle‑boom, or Moffett equipment.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred EducationVocational training or courses in fleet management preferred.
Minimum Years of Work Experience1‑2 years of professional driving experience.
Certifications- DOT Medical Certificate mandatory for trucks 10,001 lbs+.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Strict adherence to safety protocols during material handling and vehicle operation.
- Effective verbal & written communication with customers & team members.
- Strong organizational skills to manage schedules & confirm inventory accuracy.
- Proficiency in operating forklifts & performing vehicle inspections.
- Customer‑service focus, addressing needs promptly.
- Problem‑solving skills to resolve delivery challenges.
- Physical ability to lift & move heavy materials consistently.
- Reliability in attendance, punctuality, and time management.
