The Bulk Delivery driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating diesel‑powered tractor‑trailers to transport and deliver products or materials in the packaged or palletized form to and from customer locations for local and regional distances following Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and company policies. This position unloads pallets within customer accounts, repositions empty and loaded trailers, and interacts with customers and the sales team while ensuring excellent service.
Duties & Responsibilities- Perform assigned pre‑shift activities to ensure a productive shift, including reviewing work schedules, checking equipment, and preparing required supplies and load accuracy.
- Conduct daily pre‑trip, post‑trip, and in‑route safety inspections of the truck and trailers to ensure safe operation according to FMCSA regulations.
- Operate the tractor‑trailer legally at all times, following applicable laws and company policy, and complete required paperwork for freight pickup and delivery.
- Plan trips using maps, GPS, written or verbal information to ensure efficient, legal, and on‑time pickup and delivery, and record daily hours of service using an electronic log.
- Load and secure cargo to prevent movement or damage, maintain seal control, and utilize electric pallet jacks or other means to load and unload freight at customer locations.
- Perform post‑shift activities such as coupling/uncoupling trucks from trailers, operating loading gear, opening and closing cargo doors, refueling with diesel, securing equipment, and completing all necessary paperwork.
- Must read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to this position and FMCSA regulations.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid FMCSA physical certification with Interstate non‑excepted classification within 60 days of entry.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Class A CDL for Interstate driving, including manual and automatic transmissions, within 60 days of entry.
- Preferred:
Two (2) years of verifiable tractor‑trailer driving experience. - Preferred:
Sales experience. - Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to use a pallet jack and operate loading gear, opening and closing cargo doors, and safely climb on and off the vehicle.
- Must be able to read and understand trip information and plan effectively.
- Must handle a hand‑held device that serves as a cell phone.
- Willing to work varying shifts, including overnight and early morning.
- Knowledge acquired through 1 to up to 3 years of work experience.
- Valid driver’s license with excellent driving history; CDL required. Hazmat certification where necessary.
