This full-time CDL A Truck Driver role is a hybrid position based in Salem, VA, with primary duties performed on-site. Day-to-day responsibilities include safely operating CDL A trucks to transport equipment, aggregates, and construction materials to job sites and disposal locations, following all federal, state, and local regulations. The driver will perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, monitor vehicle conditions, and coordinate with dispatch and site supervisors to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
Additional duties include maintaining accurate logs and delivery records, adhering to company safety policies, assisting with loading and unloading as needed, and communicating effectively with team members and customers.
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record and knowledge of DOT regulations.
- Demonstrated experience operating commercial trucks, preferably in construction, excavation, or hauling environments.
- Strong focus on safety, including conducting thorough equipment inspections and following company and regulatory safety procedures.
- Ability to read and follow routes, delivery schedules, and basic job site instructions; comfortable with basic paperwork and electronic logging.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with dispatch, supervisors, and on-site crews.
- Physical ability to sit for extended periods, climb in and out of trucks, and occasionally assist with loading or securing materials.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work a consistent full-time schedule, including occasional overtime based on project needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; prior experience in construction or related fields is a plus.
