General Labor, Material Handler, Forklift Operator
Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Significant Responsibilities- Lift, move, sort or place pallets, boxes and items from bin locations to staging areas, build areas, pallets or crates
- Securely band and/or wrap pallets and crates in timely and accurate fashion
- Loads outgoing shipments on trucks daily
- Compares data sheet to the picking ticket and accurately records information
- Ensure inventory and labeling accuracy to be packed, palletized and shipped
- Compares information and counts , weights or measures items for outgoing shipments to verify information against bill of lading or other records
- Matches address labels to tags on cable and labels correctly; determines if the cable needs a UL label and attaches accordingly
- Processes small packages through Fed Ex and UPS software
- Assists in daily team projects as needed; actively participates in quarterly inventories

Basic Function: Prepares and packages fiber optic cable for shipment, bag/box and package orders per customer specifications.

- Use wireless RF device or desktop computer

Job Scope- Works as team member to organize and stage outgoing freight for carriers to pick-up daily
- Communicates with other departments daily to solve problems
- Uses good judgment to minimize mistakes of shipping orders to wrong customers
- Proper use of equipment, including but not limited to the following; sit-down forklift, 2 wheeled cart and pallet jack
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: 1 year experience in Shipping preferred
Essential Skills, Abilities & Knowledge: Computer and organizational skills with the ability to properly package, inspect and ship product. Ability to read and follow basic instructions, ability to understand and implement quality procedures. Math and handwriting skills required and the ability to correctly complete all documentation. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Pay close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and to recognize and help resolve problems.
Ability to operate a forklift.
Working Conditions: While performing this job, the employee must have the ability to stand for long periods of time as well as the ability to walk, sit, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must have the ability to manually move and lift 50 lbs. regularly and frequently up to and over 100 lbs. This job requires sight sufficient for significant reading and computer use.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. This work also requires an individual with hearing sufficient for communication with co-workers and external truck drivers.
