SUMMARY OF JOB

Maintains inventory and orders/receives/distributes supplies, parts, equipment and tools for water and wastewater operations staff. Initiates daily/monthly/annual warehouse activity/inventory evaluation reports. Consults with auditors for yearly inventory purposes. Operates forklift. Graduation from high school/GED equivalent plus five (5) or more years experience in procurement of equipment parts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned or scheduled.

  • Services the purchasing system for daily maintenance activities and checks the accuracy of transaction slated for payment.
  • Receives requests for parts from maintenance and operations staff.
  • Prepares requests for bid documents.
  • Compares prices to obtain best value.
  • Places parts orders with vendors.
  • Checks parts and price by verifying with purchase order.
  • Distributes parts to maintenance and operations staff.
  • Maintains computerized work order system including barcoding for inventory control.
  • Maintains inventory of parts based upon monitoring planned maintenance activities and parts utilization levels for planned maintenance.
  • Initiates daily, monthly and annual warehouse activity and inventory evaluation reports.
  • Consults with auditors as required for yearly inventory purposes.
  • Determines part number and researches possible vendors and alternative to OEM sources.
  • Monitors planned maintenance activities and parts utilization levels for planned maintenance.
  • Operates forklift.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, plus five (5) or more years experience in procurement of equipment parts or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATE, LICENSE, REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Must possess a valid Virginia driver's license or have the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment date. No more than six (6) demerit points on driving record if required to drive Water Authority vehicles.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE JOB
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus. If corrective lenses are noted on driver's license, the lenses must be worn when operating Authority vehicles.
  • Repetitive movement using equipment is involved.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, climb (ladders/stairs), balance or crawl.
  • Employee must be able to stand for an extended amount of time at the jobsite.
  • Employee must be physically able to walk several miles during the day.
  • Employee must be physically able to regularly reach overhead.
  • Employee must regularly push/pull up to 30 pounds.
  • Employee must regularly lift, carry and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds. Assistance is required on weight amounts above those listed. Failure to do so could result in injury and denied Worker's Compensation benefits.
