The successful candidate will be someone who is dependable and skilled in truss repairs.
If you are able to perform structural truss repairs at residential and/or commercial job sites this position may be for you. This is a hands‑on field position that requires strong rough‑framing skills, the ability to read and follow repair drawings and blueprints, and the ability to work safely in challenging environments.
Purpose of Position: Repairs are performed in the field and may require working on roofs, in attics, at elevated heights, and in confined spaces. The Truss Repair Technician will often work independently and interact directly with homeowners, builders, contractors, superintendents, and other customers. The ideal candidate is safety‑conscious, self‑motivated, professional, and capable of completing repairs accurately with limited supervision.
Essential Functions of the Job: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without reasonable accommodation).
- Perform field repairs and modifications to wood roof and floor trusses according to approved repair drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Read, understand, and accurately follow blueprints, truss repair details, and construction drawings.
- Measure, cut, fit, and install lumber, plywood/OSB, repair materials, fasteners, and other components as specified.
- Perform work requiring rough‑framing and general carpentry skills.
- Safely operate power and hand tools, including circular saws/Skilsaws, reciprocating saws, drills, impact drivers/drills, Porta Press equipment, and similar tools.
- Accurately read a tape measure and transfer measurements to repair materials.
- Access and perform repairs in attics, on roofs, and in other elevated or confined work areas.
- Safely climb and work from ladders as required.
- Inspect the work area and determine the safest and most effective method for completing assigned repairs.
- Complete required paperwork and documentation accurately and promptly, including repair documentation and job‑site information.
- Communicate professionally with customers, builders, contractors, superintendents, and other job‑site personnel.
- Explain the work being performed when appropriate and represent the company professionally while on customer property.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, materials, and vehicles in good working condition.
- Keep work areas organized and clean up the job site upon completion.
- Follow company safety procedures and all applicable job‑site safety requirements.
- Manage assigned work and schedule with minimal direct supervision.
- Notify management of job‑site conditions, repair issues, safety concerns, or circumstances that prevent the repair from being completed as specified.
- Travels as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

- Must have rough‑framing, carpentry, or equivalent construction skills.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints, construction drawings, and repair details.
- Must be capable of safely operating various hand and power tools, including Skilsaws/circular saws, reciprocating saws, drills, impact drills/drivers, and Porta Press equipment.
- Must be able to accurately read and understand measurements. Proficiency with a tape measure is critical.
- Must be able to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
- Must be able to complete required paperwork accurately.
- Must be comfortable meeting and communicating with customers on a regular basis.
- Must be dependable and capable of working independently with limited supervision.
- Must be able to climb and work from ladders.
- Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
- Must have a valid driver's license, clear driving record, and be able to travel to assigned job sites.
