Position Summary
Environmental Specialist in the Logistics & Storage Environmental, Safety, Security and Product Quality (L&S ESS&PQ) department. The role leads environmental compliance efforts for terminals, pipeline facilities, and fleet operations in the Griffith/Indianapolis/Robinson areas.
Key Responsibilities- Work closely with operating personnel to provide routine environmental support services.
- Manage federal and state air permitting (Indiana & Illinois).
- Develop internal compliance procedures with the support of operations.
- Work with other Environmental Specialists to ensure uniform, high standards of compliance across the country.
- Evaluate bids for new business for environmental compliance.
- Prepare air emission, water discharge, and stormwater discharge permit applications; negotiate permits; monitor compliance; prepare reports and emergency notifications.
- Provide environmental guidance and expertise on project‑related activities.
- Participate in environmental audits and work with management to resolve audit issues to enhance compliance.
- Prepare and maintain environmental plans and procedures (Stormwater Protection Plans, Groundwater Protection Plans, process documents).
- Provide training to operating personnel on environmental topics and procedures.
- Provide environmental support during emergency response situations; be on call for emergency reporting/support services.
- Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies.
- High School Diploma with 5 years of relevant work experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree (Science/Engineering) and 2+ years of experience preferred.
Preferred location:
Indianapolis, IN or Robinson, IL (position may be based at any L&S location within the area). Up to 40% travel, primarily day trips with occasional overnight stays. TWIC and driver’s license required.
$80,800.00 – $ (Grade 9 – 10).
