Craft Maintenance Intern

Overview

Marathon Petroleum Company LP (MPC) is looking for Craft Maintenance Interns at its Robinson, Illinois refinery. The goal of this internship is to provide hands‑on learning experience that supports academic development aligned with coursework. Interns will work with Maintenance employees and gain experience with industry codes, best practices, and real‑world application of studies. Relocation assistance is not available.

• Promotes a positive and collaborative work environment, demonstrating a strong commitment to teamwork, efficiency, and high‑quality standards.
• Assists Craftsmen in performing maintenance activities in accordance with established written procedures and industry best practices.
• Assists in ensuring accurate and thorough documentation of work performed, adhering to company standards.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment, including general site and workshop cleanup.
• Demonstrates adherence to Marathon’s safe work practices, maintaining a strong commitment to safety and compliance.

• Instrument Technician – Supports Craftsmen in the installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of field instruments. Supports a production‑oriented environment by maintaining electrical equipment, including low and medium voltage equipment.
• Electrician – Supports general electrical maintenance tasks, including wiring repairs, lighting, and circuit breaker upkeep. Assists in interpreting electrical one‑line diagrams, schematics, and operates electrical testing equipment to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Enrollment in a two‑year Advanced Manufacturing Automation program, electrical, instrumentation, analyzer, or similar programs.
• Good academic standing (minimum 2.0 GPA).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full‑time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.

• Hourly Rate: $26.27/hr.
• Retirement: 401(k) with company match up to 7%.

• Interns work a part‑time schedule, Mon‑Thu.
• No more than 30 hours per week without supervisor approval.
