Craft Maintenance Intern
Marathon Petroleum Company LP has openings for Craft Maintenance Interns at its refinery in Robinson, Illinois. The goal of this position is to provide hands-on learning experience to selected candidates to support academic development aligned with coursework in their program. This internship will give the intern an opportunity to develop and apply knowledge, technical skills, and interpersonal skills in the workplace under the direction of Maintenance employees.
As a Craft Maintenance Intern at Marathon's Robinson Refinery, you can expect to become familiar with industry codes and best practices, build critical thinking skills, and gain hands-on experience in real world application of your studies. You will gain knowledge of various aspects of a refinery by working with a team of professionals who are critical to plant maintenance.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Positions are available spring, summer, and fall semesters (opportunities for extension).
Key Responsibilities:

- Assists Craftsmen in performing maintenance activities in accordance with established written procedures and industry best practices.
- Assists in ensuring accurate and thorough documentation of work performed, adhering to company standards.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including general site and workshop cleanup.
- Demonstrates adherence to Marathon's safe work practices, maintaining a strong commitment to safety and compliance.
Opportunities are available for internships in the following disciplines:
- Instrument Technician:
Supports Craftsmen in the installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of field instruments, including transmitters, transducers, controllers, switches, solenoids, relays, control valves, regulators, actuators, positioners, and instrument loops. Supports a production-oriented environment by maintaining electrical equipment through established troubleshooting techniques and methodologies, with expertise in low and medium voltage equipment preferred. - Electrician:
Supports general electrical maintenance tasks, including wiring repairs, lighting, and circuit breaker upkeep, to ensure continued operational efficiency. Assists with interpreting and utilizing electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and operates electrical testing equipment to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Enrollment in a two-year Advanced Manufacturing Automation program, electrical, instrumentation, analyzer, or similar programs
- Good academic standing (minimum 2.0 GPA)
- A valid driver's license
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future
Pay and Benefits:
- Hourly Rate: $26.27/hr

Schedule Requirements:
Interns will work a part-time schedule, with workdays Mon-Thu, with no more than 30 hours a week worked without supervisor approval.
