Position: (USA) Truck Shop Refrigeration Technician - ROBINSON, TX (1ST SHIFT)

Position Summary

Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on transport refrigeration units (TRU) according to OEM procedures. Maintain and repair refrigeration trailer interior components such as walls, floors, doors, and accessories. Operate TRU in diagnostic and service test modes, diagnose and repair electrical systems using technical manuals and diagnostic tools. Reclaim/recycle leak checks, solder repair, recharge systems, and maintain tractor climate control systems (APU, heaters, air conditioning, communication).

Maintain and repair trailers (electrical wiring, lighting, landing gear, interior panels, roof, tire seals, flooring, doors, threshold plates). Perform preventive maintenance of tractor‑trailer braking systems including hydraulic, air, antiskid, ABS, and EBS. Install and dismount tires using tire machines, repair flats, balance tires, and perform advanced axle alignments with digital equipment. Receive fuel drops, conduct fuel sampling, monitor safety compliance, and document samples.

Identify warrantable repairs, enter data into the maintenance system, and process warranty claims. Assess maintenance needs, choose parts, and conduct repairs on Walmart equipment (tractors, trailers, road trucks, shop equipment, air compressors, forklifts, wash bay, and service vehicles) in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. Collaborate with managers and colleagues, prioritize tasks, communicate progress, and implement continuous improvement and change management practices.

  • Operate TRU in diagnostic and service test modes and diagnose/repair electrical systems using technical manuals and diagnostic tools.
  • Reclaim/recycle leak checks, solder repair, recharge systems and maintain tractor climate controls (APU, heaters, AC, communication).
  • Maintain and repair trailers (electrical wiring, lighting, landing gear, interior panels, roof, tire seals, flooring, doors, threshold plates).
  • Perform preventative maintenance of tractor‑trailer braking systems: hydraulic, air, antiskid, ABS, EBS.
  • Install and dismount tires on wheels using tire machines, repair flats, balance tires and perform advanced axle alignments with digital equipment.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 3 years’ experience in trailer refrigeration maintenance and repair (e.g., diagnostic and component replacement).
  • EPA Section 608 refrigerant handling certification.
  • Valid state‑issued driver’s license.
  • Brake inspection qualification as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25.
  • Vehicle inspection qualification as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.19.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Combination of Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). certification.
  • Experience maintaining tractors and trailers, including preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Therm‑King Master Tech, Carrier Master Tech, or equivalent certification.
  • Proficiency with computer applications (email, spreadsheets, word processing).
  • ASE certification.
